Hopefully it's not too big a surprise that the issue titles for this series are all the names of top 100 billboard songs from 1971-1972.
Sometimes, when I'm writing a story or a story arc, I'll get a song in my head that comes back to me every time I'm writing it because it fits the work thematically. When I write Black Widow, the song in my head is Neil Young's "Ohio", even though the Kent State shootings the song protests predate the series by a whole year. It is a little disappointing to me that the political thread that leads issue #1 is virtually lost in the rest of the series. The issues are just too short to have continued it. However, it was my hope that I could draw some parallels between the Nixon administration and the impending alien invasions, that the more politically active superheroes of this timeline had traded one threat for the other. Oh well. Maybe I can slip more of this into 1970s Fantastic Four...
