Buddays,
There's just a few things I'd like to update everybody on so we're all on the same page and all aware of the same stuff. There's a lot of activity happening offlist that I will be going over here briefly so if anybody is interested in getting in on the discussions and the world-building you can contact me and I'll get you involved. But I'll save this for later as there are a few things I want to discuss first.
- It's a pleasure for me to announce that Brent Lambert and Tony Thornley have agreed to join the MA staff as AEiC's. Since they've joined the site they have been a tremendous help to Clayton and I with not only getting the X-Men and Avengers lines off the ground, but in laying the ground work for future Initiatives and the bigger details for MA's background world. They both bring a vast knowledge of the Marvel universe with them (which makes up for my general lack of detailed knowledge) and they both have their own particular niche's to fill other holes. That and we figured that if I were entertaining their input and opinions like they were part of the staff then I may as well give their input and opinions the authority to back it up. Both Brent and Tony will be instrumental to us in the decision making process concerning future proposals, the direction of the site and ensuring that MA is a success. So, please take advantage of their presence, their knowlege and input for your own projects if you have any issues they can help you with. They'll be happy to.
- MA is also happy to announce some new additions to the site:
· Scott Redmond is taking over Astonishing X-Men. He brings to MA a great enthusiasm that has helped spark a great energy in the X-Men line and his plans for this team are going to prove to be exciting and fresh, in keeping with the concept laid out for AXM. I would expect good things from not just AXM, but the whole X-Men line has benefited tremendously from his addition.
· Stuart Fairchild has dove into the Avengers line with Force Works. The team will be born out of both of the current Avengers book, building on the continuity they've laid out and enriching it further, while heading off in a totally different direction that either of those teams. And with having a 3rd book in the mix we've all now begun building towards a great and epic crossover that will help bring some great action/adventure back to the Avengers.
· Derrick Ferguson, in the wake of MKG's closure, has agreed to bring Ka-Zar over to MA. It will begin in June and tentatively run for 6 issues. Ka-Zar in any form brings a uniqueness and diversity I'm looking for at MA and help establish a man who should be a major player in the world: Kevin Plunder. Derrick's Ka-Zar is a nice blend of descriptive action, pulp adventure, wonder and imagination. I not only think that MA will be a perfect fit for Ka-Zar but Ka-Zar is a perfect fit for MA.
· Nate Charles is working hard on a Daredevil proposal/outline that will bring ol' hornhead back to MA. Daredevil (if anything like Nate's Batman) will be a great crime noir book without losing sense of what makes the character of Daredevil fun. The book itself will also go into great depth of NYC's underworld and work hand in hand with Tony's Spider-Man at making sure the city itself has a real life and identity.
- Don't forget that MA has a Message Board that can be found here: marvelanthology.proboards.com/index.cgi
- The Dibs List has been updated. Check out the Dibs List in the Database if you need to know the current status of your favorite characters. The websites list will be uploaded sometime between now and the next update. The Dibs List IS a fluid entity and will be updated frequently, so be sure to keep an eye on it. I do date stamp the revisions so you're aware of how recent it is. The Dibs should be dated 5/13/09 (today).
Also, on the website at the bottom of the Character Dibs are lists that compile who belongs to what Good and Bad. This is just to help you know who is where and the bigger picture of MA. I will be adding a NEUTRAL section that list out the active members of the Imperial Guard, SHIELD (not Nuetral but they're background) and the Supervisor's for X-Corps International and their locations.
- I will be adding a Submissions section to the site soon. With it will be a list of titles we're interested in seeing. It's not just to help attract new authors, but to help us keep track of what we'd like to see filled as we continue to aggressively recruit in talent. There are a lot of details we're developing offlist so each initiative has more to it that what I'll be going over here.
- Now. Following the X-Men and Supernatural/Horror Initiatives we're currently developing the details for our next projects. The immediate Initiative we're looking to create is what we're calling the Street Initiative. We're working with Josh and Nate right now on a few of those details. Some of the books we'd like to see fill this are: Heroes For Hire, Moon Knight, Daredevil, Code: Blue, Iron Fist and other books that are comparable to these. Note that 2 of the books are already taken and just used to help the example.
Along with that we're also working on some details for the Space Initiative. This line will launch a little later down the line, partially born out of the aftermath of the Avengers crossover and Barry's Infinity. We're looking to keep in mind the immense scope of the Universe and the aliens that populate it (Wiki has a great list of aliens) from those used only once to those used nearly everyday. Some of the books we'd like to see fill this are: Firelord, Starjammers, Imperial Guard, and others that fit the concept.
Then we have, finally, an International Initiative. This are books that take place on soil foreign from the United States. There aren't any real detail for this as the distance between the teams aren't condusive to crossover, but the intent with these are to explore lands that aren't often seen or understood. Books like: Alpha Flight (Canada), Winter Guard (Russia), Big Hero 6 (Japan), MI-13 (Britain) and other books that fit the concept.
On top of that we're looking to add to the X-Men line and because of that I have to declare the X-Line is now invite only. It's pretty full with 5 potential team books and 2 solo books. We will be glad to add some Avenger solo's like Black Panther, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man. International solo's like Union Jack.
I think you get the point.
We're still looking to fill the holes we have open with ALPHA FLIGHT and GHOST RIDER. Anything that ties into an existing line is a big priority. We're still accepting people to jump in on the HULK: SPECTRUM event. You can check out the Board (http://marvelanthology.proboards.com/index.cgi) for the details.
That should do it. If I've missed anything I'm sorry. There's just a lot to go over here.
