No, you didn't read it wrong (assuming you're reading it); the Titanium Man armor isn't almost 8 ft. tall -- it's almost 30 ft. tall.
The science behind Iron Man and similar armored suits was always all wrong; the miniaturization required to make electrically-powered armor was at least 50 years off from the '60s. If such powered armor was possible at all, it would have to be mechanical instead of electronic. And that meant much bigger pieces. And an interior cockpit for levers and switches. No more pretending cybernetics existed in the '60s.
What that does, of course, is transform powered armor into giant robot suits, ala Robotech or Gundam Wing. And I'm fine with that. Iron Man can't have as many adventures indoors anymore, but I think everything will still work out.
