Morgan and I have only 3 issues left to write to finish our commitment to Black Widow. So, what in the "1970sverse" should we tackle after that?

I voted Sub-Mariner, but wouldn't mind Warlock, Hulk or Spider-Man. Defenders would be nice as well.

For those voting Sub-Mariner, I just wanted to make sure people understood that the results of this poll will not be replacing my commitment to a 1940s Sub-Mariner back-up feature and anthology appearances.

Hey Scott! Long time no see!
I was one of the ones who voted for Sub-Mariner, I think he just fits in perfectly with the whole genre you have going for it. A 70s Defenders would be really intriguing though. Defenders was just a revolving door of heroes and having kind of like a fun anything goes type of book can be refreshing as a writer to really write anything with whatever cast of characters and stories.

Hey Oliva! Every name we get over here from the ol' Marvel Lab is just going to help MA.
The tricky part about Sub-Mariner is that I'm already writing him in the '40s AND in 1970s FF, so the danger would be possibly burning out on Namor. And as stoked as Morgan is about writing a Beast solo series right now, he's been after me even longer for a 1970s Defenders title...

Hmmm...well, Beast was on the Defenders for a bit. Not for a while, (if I remember it was when the title got cancelled), but he was on it. You could hit two birds with one stone there.
As for Namor, who knew he would become over saturated? XD Wolverine is blushing.

I placed the vote on Beast. I thought it might offer a unique view to have him stand out on his own without a team to hold onto. I understand the allure of The Defenders but a Beast solo still holds my vote. I think you could do something awesome with it.
I look forward to your Namor stories in the near future. 1970s Fantastic Four is one of the titles that I'll be reviewing for the round up reviews of 2010. I look forward to sinking my teeth into the series and reviewing it so keep an eye out for that.

I was looking at the upcoming Weapon X Annual update and had a mildly interesting idea. We could do a similar event thing, an update full of '70's versions of our existing titles. I wouldn't expect them to fit into the '70's continuity that the '70's books have, but it would be fun to see a '70's Winter Guard by Gavin, a '70's Gambit by David, etc.

Also, in response to the Sub-Mariner concerns, I retracted my original vote and went with Warlock.

On the other hand each book kinda existing on it's own in a '70s setting allows it to have a greater creative reach. Either way I think that this could be pretty interesting.

I think this sounds really exciting! I don't know how you'd do a 1970s Gambit -- Kid Gambit? -- but Morgan had actually mentioned doing something like a 1970s Winter Guard to me before, using Communist villains active circa 1972. I'll accept all one-shots; just let me check them out first and I'll try to resist tinkering too heavily.
As for the Beast...Morgan's been awful quiet on this messageboard but, privately, he's been (heh) bouncing off the walls to do a Beast solo series. So, Gavin, tell all your friends to come vote for Hank and you might get your wish!

If you guys do decide to do this, put me down for a '70's KA-ZAR one-shot. That's when I first discovered and fell in love with the character so I have a real fondness for that incarnation of Ka-Zar.

I don't see a real reason to NOT do this. It's just figuring out the timing.
