I'm caught up on reading now. The first two issues seem a loving tribute to the classic Shang Chi series -- perhaps a little too loving, given its reluctance to deviate. It was almost as much a step back into the past as my 1970s books! I was a bit concerned about an over-reliance on Fu Manchu as Shang Chi's nemesis, but that was cleared up by #3 with a nice plot twist that modernized the title with it.
Issue #3 was the weakest issue, though, I felt because it was so hard to picture how a "hoard" of assassins could all pile into an operating room. Wouldn't the good guys have bottlenecked them in the doorway and picked them off a few at a time? It also bothered me that in both 3 and 4, doctors were shouting "clear!" all the time for a variety of reasons when, I believe, it is only used specifically when defibrillating.
Issue #4 was the best of the bunch, with an exciting fight between Shang Chi and, I assume, an original character. Hopefully Shang Chi will kick some butt in a rematch!

Hey, Scott. Glad you're enjoying the series so far.
One thing you pointed out - the fight scene in 3 was meant to take place in the hall outside the operating room. Sorry I didn't make that clear.
Mr. Negative is actually a Marvel character who's a post-Brand New Day Spider-Man villain. He wasn't being used here, so I tweaked his origin and made him a servant to his mysterious master who'll be revealed soon. And there's definitely a rematch coming.
Hope you keep reading. There's a lot coming up, and several more twists before we reach #12!
