INFINITY PLUS 2010: Year In Review
(#1) by Josh Reynolds
The Cast: Thanos, Gamora, Adam Warlock, Pip the Troll, Nova, Ms. Marvel, Captain Mar-Vell and Mantis
Antagonists Faced: Thanos (though not exactly)
Standout Character: Thanos
Best Moment: Thanos giving Warlock updates on all the major Marvel alien races
Overall: This issue sort of bridges the gap between Barry’s series and the new AVENGERS INFINITY that Mitch Crane is due to write so in that respect, there isn’t really any big conflict in this issue. Other than Gamora being pissed that Adam Warlock is letting Thanos stay on the Infinity Station, which I can’t really blame her for. Josh gets the dry logic of Warlock down well, but Thanos is by far the star of this issue. His calculating demeanor makes him simultaneously creepy and likeable. I have a feeling if Mitch plays Thanos like Josh did this issue then he’s in for some very interesting stories. It was also nice to get a play by play of what’s going on with the big races in the MA Universe though I hope in the future we get more focus on a lot of the smaller ones. I wish this issue would have talked a little bit about Gamora’s pregnancy, but I’m assuming that’s a plotline Mitch is going to pick up. Either way, a good issue that served its purpose.
