AMAZING ADVENTURES OF THE 1970’S FEATURING THE INHUMANS 2010: Year in Review (#1-4) by Scott Casper
Cast: Medusa, Karnak, Lockjaw
Antagonists Faced: Count Nefaria, Titanium Man
Standout Character: Medusa
Overall: The draw of these titles within this imprint is the fact that they are set back in past continuity. Scott does a good job of telling stories that take place in past continuity but are not saddled with one having to really know that continuity well. While I’m very versed in characters and history, there are certain things I have never read from the time period of the 70’s, the Inhumans being part of that. While it’s not saddled with continuity and is easy to read I did feel there were some cases where it was hammered home a bit too hard that this was a 70’s title. In this I’m referring to each vehicle that Medusa used to stop rockets or steal in the second issue was referred to as “A 1970 (fill in the car)” or similar. While it was probably not the intent, it came off to me as a poke to remind the reader of the time period and was a bit distracting and pulled me out of the story a bit. Near the end of the four issues Karnak joins the cast and there are some things that are mentioned that one would possibly have to know about Inhuman continuity to understand, but again they are handled in a way that you are not left in the dark fully about any mentions. I’m interested to see where it goes after this and will definitely be checking out the rest of the title and the other 70’s titles.

Luckily, you don't have to know a lot about the Inhumans stories published in the 1970s to "get" Amazing Adventures of the 1970s: Featuring the Inhumans. Amazing Adventures #1-4 are canonical for this series, but the Roy Thomas issues that followed I completely ignored and replaced. The Inhumans' appearance in the Kree-Skrull War has been changed completely too. And that's basically it, everything else being original stories.
