>Hank turned red in the face and had to take a deep breath. “I was the one who stopped the incident, so I’m well aware of the details behind it, more so than even you. What’s next? Are you going to conduct an investigation into Doctor Doom or Iron Man?”
>“Those examples aren't the same, Han; neither one of them has taken to trying to turn the entire globe into mindless slaves.” <
Emperor Doom graphic novel, 1987.
Other than that, I liked this issue and found the politics of modern Marvel pretty fascinating.

I'm gonna have to dispute you on that because that line wasn't referring to "mind control" specifically but the fact that everyone had been turned into animalstic, completely mindless beings. Doom didn't do that.

And I can understand where the confusion in that line would have come into play where taken as one line out of context in that scene. But in reading the whole scene and issue, I think the intent of what Crystal was saying was obvious.
Another point is that how often do politicians possess perfect memory? We just had Palin screwing up history (which she does on a regular basis). It's probably a bit much to expect all characters in the Marvel Universe to posses perfect memories as well. And even if Crystal did remember the event, why would she bring that up in the conversation? A conversation where she is looking for the advantage.

I just see it as a missed opportunity to have Crystal say, "When has Doom ever tried to mind control everyone on Earth?" then pause and say, "Okay -- recently?"

I just see it as a missed opportunity to have Crystal say, "When has Doom ever tried to mind control everyone on Earth?" then pause and say, "Okay -- recently?" I still think that wouldn't have worked because it wouldn't have been in character for Crystal. She was looking to be right in the conversation and making that admission would have put her on the defensive instead of the offensive. Crystal grew up in royal politics and is growing to become a very powerful political figure herself. She'd not so readily admit to being wrong.
