If you had to choose a side in this argument, who would you choose to stand with and why?

I'd stand with Wolverine's side. There is a way that they can defend themselves and fight for their rights without secluding themselves in an offshore island and training soldiers. It's all become more about segregating themselves from danger and with that, humanity. Cyclops has made a lot of decisions that have only furthered them from their goals of human-mutant coalition. Wolverine is trying to break those boundaries and re-establish that goal, he's taking it back to basics.

I'd go for Wolverine's side as well. Like Gavin stated there are ways to stand up for their dwindling species while also not being a hardcore army that puts children out on the front lines to be killed and maimed. Wolverine knows just as well as Cyclops does that the world is not pretty and not the one that they had pre M-Day but he's taking a more practical and simple look at things and not turning everyone to the dark side. He has X-Force to go do the nitty gritty of the world while the students get to be students and when they come of age then its up to them to decide how and where to proceed. This works better than forcing war upon them, a war that sometimes is of their own making. By segregating themselves and being so gung ho to kill people and mess things up and by striking a blow against the country by rejecting law and order and making their own island they have painted a huge target on Utopia, and Wolverine is smart enough to know that its only a matter of time before everyone pays the price for that if they stay there.

I have to agree with you guys. One, Cyclops' approach of isolation is only making them a big ass sitting target. How easy is it to destroy mutantkind when they're all packed on one very small island? You're basically asking to be attacked again and again. Two, it seems like Cyclops has almost given up on trying to get the other mutants their powers back which would solve alot of their problems. (it would probably make a hell of a lot too honestly) But the biggest thing that makes me say no to Cyclops is his willingness to turn kids into killing machines. Which seems ironic given all the shit he's given Xavier flack about reason because he turns around and acts no better. I couldn't be under that colossal of a hypocrite.
And I would trust Wolverine a little bit more on what is "too far" because he's seen it up close and personal. There are a few X-Men besides Logan who have experienced the true trauma and horror that comes from people trying to make a mutant into a weapon. For that reason alone I'd trust his opinion on the matter more.

So this is something going on in the published comic books right now? I hope no one is surprised if Cyclops is being written grossly out-of-character...

How far back do you need me to explain things lol? But I would have to disagree about Cyclops being written out of character. He's had to evolve in a situation that no X-Men leader has ever had to deal with before. I don't necessarily agree with the choices he's making, but I think those choices are totally in line with his character and absolutely good writing. If only because I gush over Jason Aaron. ;D

Basically, Wolverine and Cyclops' beef stems from the fact that Logan disagrees with Cyclops' decision to use kids as soldiers without any real regard.
