Hey I'm here with my review of this premier issue. Does this site have a set way of reviewing the stuff on it just for future issues. So anyway it is an enjoyable issue to be sure. I felt the focus was on Speed who is a character I greatly enjoy so it's good to see him getting some spotlight which isn't even something he did in the Young Avengers. All of the characters (well of those we know) are close or spot on with what has been shown before. You use some of the furniture from the Academy X series (DJ etc) who really didn't have any personality or anything so it'll be interesting to see how they go. So the Bad: This didn't feel like a first issue. This felt like an arc or two in where we know for the most part who everyone is...now I've just noticed when I came to review those files that you have on them describing about their backgrounds etc. That however would have been something I'd have liked to seen, the building of the team and how they deal with first gaining their powers or being recruited etc It could just be me but I would have really liked to see that. Anyway I'll look forward to more

I don't mind sometimes when a story starts NOT at the real beginning. The X-Men isn't a concept that needs to be re-introduced and we know the characters have powers and their reasons, so retroactively filling in the blanks isn't a bad way to go. I look forward to the Origins. J.D. kept the characters recognizable especially when he didn't have to, so it'll be nice to see where the differences are between these students compared to 616's and how those differences influence their future.
But I see where Crute's coming from and it's not a bad criticism, especially when it's easily manageable in the next issue.
