If anyone liked my roster earlier... well, let's say you may be seeing it soon. Maybe. Awesome, there's no reason to not do it that way.

If I got a chance to handle a main x-team I would def. try to structure it with two old stays and then mostly new x-men that were appeared in the 90s onward or older characters who really get no play (like Forge for instance).

I'm a big fan of a rotating cast with some central characters, but bringing in those that are needed.
I don't like the militaristic feel that Fraction's book has, but there are ideas that I like. I like the Leadership Council. The rotating squad and the interconnectedness. Scottie and I over at MR have this very setup (basically) have set up a field squad that is rotating member with a core group of Storm and Wolverine as the leaders, then for rotating in we have all the people who have been X-Men around the mansion but with Kitty, Colossus, Cannonball, Rogue, Joseph, Quicksilver, Mimic, Multiple Man, Magma being the main squad we see being rotated around and then you have Cyclops, Phoenix, Angel, Iceman as the teachers and administration of Xavier's, again along with others. It is a lot to juggle, but it gives us a whole lot to play with and deal with a lot of the volatile atmosphere for mutants over there.

Another late entry before I tabulate votes -
Banshee, Havok, Polaris, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Storm

Now, this contest was complicated by a lot of people voting more than six times. I only took each person's first six suggestions.
Cyclops won with nine votes, followed by Wolverine, Marvel Girl, Rogue, and a three-way tie between Beast, Kitty/Shadowcat, and Iceman.

(Noticing my votes don't do too well in these polls...)

Don't think it was a contest. ;-)
Interesting to read some of the choices again though.

Don't think it was a contest. ;-) Maybe not, but it was interesting to see, as a result, who people think are the essential X-Men in just about every roster.

My absolute favorite roster of X-Men is most likely the Original X-Men with the additions of Havok and Polaris.
Beast, Iceman, Angel, Cyclops, Jean, Havok and Lorna are awesome characters and I really liked the feel of Havok and Polaris being sort of like the not ready for X-Men players.

Oliva, you seem like you'd be the perfect audience for a 1970s X-Men...

Ok so here are the current rosters of the main X-Squads at Marvel Anthology. If you, the reader (or even fellow writers) could change anything about them what would you? Here are the teams. X-Men
Charles Xavier Emma Frost Wolverine Domino Blink Avalanche Archangel Storm
Astonishing X-Men
Jean Grey Bolt Jubilee Iceman Sunfire Nightcrawler
Shadowcat Bishop Siryn Sunfire Longshot Timeslip
Uncanny X-Men
Cyclops Cable Rachel Summers Chamber Colossus Skin Ever Static Projector Psylocke Colossus Rogue So how would you switch things up if you were in control?

Technically, Shadowcat isn't on the roster for Astonishing X-Men. It's Bishop instead of Shadowcat, otherwise continue. Just keepin' it right. Hahah.

Hmm what would I do...hmm.
Well with Uncanny I'd bring the characters in the book down as there really are a lot of them and they don't all get a lot of spotlight, some of them have been very underused. So with some slicing out it would most likely end up being:
Cyclops Colossus Rachel Summers Chamber Rogue Ever Blob
The Science Club would be a back-up to the issue instead of within the main story so that they get their own spotlight. The rest like Cable and Skin and such are teachers and headmasters of the school and should be more as supporting or perhaps featured in New X-Men leaving the Uncanny team itself to be tight and concise for the missions they might need to go on.
